Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
Hello! I'm Jess (she/her) and I'm an AMFT.
I've had the privilege of working in a variety of settings including community-based clinics, schools, and psychiatric hospital. I have worked extensively with children, teens, and families from diverse cultural backgrounds who have been impacted by adverse experiences and struggling with adjusting to life transitions, family conflicts, school functioning, cultural issues, substance use, anxiety, and depression. I'm passionate about reducing the stigma associated with talking about one's mental health and especially seeking mental health support.
I believe the uniqueness of each individual or family should guide the different modalities of therapy and I enjoy tailoring individualized approaches based on your preferences, needs, and goals of treatment. Some of the modalities I utilize may include DBT, CBT, in addition to integrating family systems, attachment- based and psychodynamic approaches to help build insight and awareness into understanding your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.
How I help
As a therapist, I value collaboration and working together towards growth and change. It's important for me to find what works best for you so I encourage feedback to let me know when something is not working. I strive to provide a safe, inclusive, comfortable, and hopefully enjoyable space for you to share your authentic self at your own pace. I also enjoy utilizing humor, music, or art in sessions when appropriate.
I believe…
the client/therapist relationship is an essential component of therapy. You deserve to take up space and have someone listen without judgement. I will be your biggest advocate and believe there is unquantifiable value in honesty, curiosity, and empathy.
What it’s like in session with me…
I understand that starting therapy can be a highly intimidating and vulnerable experience but I believe a challenging yet warm environment can help promote meaningful change. I hope to be a part of your journey to achieving your goals and personal growth but I also empower you to ask questions and speak freely!
