Carl Jung said, “I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to become.” This is one of my favorite quotes and the basis for my therapeutic philosophy, which focuses on the strength of each individual and the power they have to live the life they envision.
Born outside of Boston in a dysfunctional home environment, my own struggles in childhood and adolescence led to challenges I did not know how to tackle on my own. It was the presence of therapists and counselors that taught me how to take control of my life, learn to love myself, and ultimately choose a career where I would be able to provide the support I received in my most difficult seasons.
Despite any trauma, hardships, or negative life experiences, I believe in the power of resilience and that with awareness, education, and nurturing, individuals can utilize their inner resources to find balance and to flourish. My style is humanistic and person-centered, incorporating narrative, systemic, and attachment-based modalities into practice, where the client is the expert of their own life. Building a strong and trusting relationship is my priority in order to provide a tailored and holistic experience for my clients.
With a second masters in education and over 10 years experience working in the school system, I have found my greatest passion in working with adolescents and families. Most recently, I completed my practicum at Alliant Couples and Family Clinic, specializing in relationship dynamics. I love to incorporate play, art, and music into sessions when appropriate. I provide support with anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, trauma, abuse, identity challenges, relationship issues, attachment injuries, family-of-origin conflict, life transitions, unhealthy coping, self-harm behaviors, and suicidal ideation.
Outside of work, I love playing and coaching basketball and soccer, cooking, doing yoga, playing video games, and traveling with my dogs Tobin and Copley.
